However, the strength of a person's ego is not determined by the ego itself, but by the person's identification with it. Every person has the choice between egocentrism and self-determination. Those who are connected to their self perceive the significance of the ego differently. Such people use their ego as a servant and ensure that the ego does not place itself at the center of life or become the master of it.


Dear Mr. Kassl!

My question to the divine spiritual world would be: “What is the ego from the perspective of the spiritual world?”

Egocentrism or self-determination?

The ego is linked to a person's embodiment and is established at the beginning of incarnation. The end of an incarnation also means the end of the ego. On a spiritual and mental level, the ego has no legitimacy, since we act through the self in higher dimensions.  

The ego has the important function for humans on the third dimensional density of meeting the physical and psychological needs of a person and of alerting the person when it sees its ability to survive threatened or endangered.

In contrast to the self, the ego is a temporal phenomenon and pursues exclusively interests that serve earthly life and a person's physical and psychological survival. An overly strong identification with the ego leads to a selfish personality focused solely on its own needs.

A bird's-eye view of life is hardly or only partially possible for these people.

From a spiritual perspective, the ego is the navigator in earthly affairs. It recognizes threats, warns of approaching dangers, and protects what it perceives as needing protection. The ego is closest to itself, and this is precisely where its value, legitimacy, and significance lie.

However, the strength of a person's ego is not determined by the ego itself, but by the person's identification with it. Every person has the choice between egocentrism and self-determination.

Those who are connected to their Self perceive the significance of the ego differently. This person uses their ego as a servant and ensures that the ego does not become the center of life or elevate itself to the lord of life.


Servant or tyrant?

This means that the more constant and stable a person's connection to the eternal Divine is, the fewer fears can be triggered. In this way, the ego is unemployed, and ego exaltation is impossible!

Anyone who knows that his life is eternal and that death is an illusion remains unaffected by alarmism, by the fears of lack and loss to which the ego is naturally subject, and makes decisions from within himself.

In summary: The transient ego fulfills its valuable functions during a person's life, but loses its importance to the extent that the person interacts and connects with his or her self.

With the earthly shedding of the body, the ego dissolves completely and we return to our spiritual home under the aegis of the Self.

This means: An intact or inactive connection to your self determines the influence that the ego has on your everyday decisions throughout your life.

Where do you direct your attention, and to whom do you give power? The ego as a good servant or as a great tyrant? The self as the highest authority or as a forgotten reality?

Life by life you come closer to this truth – in GOD’S GRACE.
